Design a “Paul Y. Innovation Tower" on a 70-shaped site

 

Participants are required to design and present a BIM model of a "Paul Y. Innovation Tower". The virtual construction is set on a 70-shaped site, according to the criteria set below. Entries will be evaluated on both architectural quality and the quality of the BIM techniques used.

 

Site area:                19,176 square meters

Site coverage:        60%

Height control:      70 meters

Plot ratio:              12

 

 

 

Submission Guidelines

 

  • The office building must be designed with BIM software, and the digital file submitted on CD/DVD.

 

  • A maximum of 10 sheets in A3 size (PDF or jpg format) which shall contain the following:

    1. Site plan

    2. General floor plan

    3. Sections and elevations

    4. External and internal - 3D views (Rendered images)
     

  • 300-word essay describing the design, highlighting the design concept and the use of BIM as a design tool.

 

  • Shortlisted teams are required to make a five-minute video presentation describing their entry.

*3D models of all winning entries will be printed and displayed at the Awards Ceremony.

Objective

Eligibility

 

The competition is open to all current full-time students (including 2016 graduates) from any discipline in post-secondary institutions in Hong Kong.

 

Minimum of one or a maximum of five members per team.

 
Rules and Regulations
 

There are no restrictions on the choice of software products. However, if the software used is uncommon, the entry team may be asked to provide a licensed version of the software for the purpose of judging.

 

All entries must be original, unreleased works free of any form of copyright infringement.

 

Failure to comply with any competition rule or submission of entries containing any form of plagiarism will result in disqualification.

Terms and Conditions
 

Paul Y. Engineering, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to amend any and all rules in relation to this Competition, and to terminate or cancel this Competition at any time without any prior notice or explanation. Any and all decisions of Paul Y. Engineering will be final and binding on any and all matters relating to this Competition.

Workshop 
 

The event will include a half-day educational programme and sharing session focused on the design features of the entries, buildability and use of BIM technology. 

This event celebrates Paul Y. Engineering’s 70th Anniversary and also aims to nurture a new generation of BIM talent for the construction industry by providing an opportunity to build and develop their BIM skills and knowledge in an integrated, collaborative environment.
